- More than 70 civil engineering students from this prestigious university visited three ACCIONA´s projects in progress: the Sant Feliu de Llobregat tunnel, the B-40 highway and the Sagrera high-speed railway line
Last Thursday, March 30th, 70 third-year civil engineering students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology visited several projects that ACCIONA is currently carrying out in Catalonia (Spain) and that are nearing completion.
The students were given a guided tour of three ongoing projects: the Sant Feliu de Llobregat tunnel, the B-40 ring road and the La Sagrera high-speed rail line, where they learned about the main challenges and solutions applied in each of them. In addition, they received a introduction about ACCIONA, to learn about the company’s work at an international level.
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology is the largest and most prestigious university in Norway, with its main campus in Trondheim and two others in Gjøvik and Ålesund. ACCIONA has maintained a close relationship with this institution for many years, with the aim of offering its students a professional future to its students and attracting the best talent to its organization.
PROJECTS VISITED
Railway integration in Sant Feliu de Llobregat
The project consists of the construction of a subway railway line, parallel to the current one, between the towns of Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Sant Joan Despí, in Barcelona.
This action will improve the connectivity and quality of life of the citizens who currently have a railway line that crosses the urban core of the city of Sant Feliu de Llobregat.
The construction of this new line will involve a total of 2,980 meters of work: more than 900 meters of false tunnel between screens and more than 630 meters of tunnel in the mine, in addition to other open-cast sections.
B-40 ring road
ACCIONA and its partners are building the 6.1-kilometer section between Olesa de Montserrat and Viladecavalls, linking the town of Abrera to Terrassa.
The section - consisting of three lanes of 3.5 meters each, with external shoulders of 2.5 meters and internal shoulders of 1.5 meters and a tunnel of 1.3 kilometers - will allow the reorganization of the roads in the area through four interchanges.
La Sagrera-TAV Station
The station is located between the Bac de Roda bridge and the Treball bridge. Its construction includes earthworks, structures, conventional line railway installations (more than four kilometers in total), drainage and the replacement of services.
The station will be a semi-underground building with a surface area of 260,000 m2 distributed over three levels. The upper level will be a walkable green roof that will serve as a meeting point for the neighborhoods of Sant Martí and Sagrera, currently divided by the railway tracks.
La Sagrera-TAV station will thus become a large intermodal hub designed to handle more than 100 million people a year. It will accommodate the high-speed line, the R1 and R2 commuter lines and the L4, L9 and L10 lines of the Barcelona Metro, as well as buses, taxis and parking for private vehicles.
