The company received the “Special Recognition” award during the TEKLA Global BIM 2022 Awards.
The Construction business of ACCIONA, specifically its Engineering area, received the prestigious "Special Recognition" award during the TEKLA Global BIM 2022 Awards for its innovative work on the E6 project between Ranheim and Værnes.
The company was recognised for its use of building information modelling (BIM methodology) in the design of the extensive infrastructure project E6 Ranheim-Værnes, which ACCIONA is currently building in Trøndelag. The project competed with more than 130 other projects from 37 countries.
ACCIONA's project was awarded by a technical jury that highlighted the efficient use of open standards to create a seamless exchange of data between the structural, modelling, technical drawing and coordination teams working on the project.
Model-based design
Through the use of BIM, ACCIONA has succeeded in developing a model-based design through the use of innovative methods, processes and technologies for most of the actors involved in the project.
The TEKLA Global BIM Awards has developed into one of the leading international reference awards in the sector, which assesses the best construction projects that have been carried out using the Tekla Structures BIM software.
The E6 Ranheim-Værnes project
The contract, which was awarded to ACCIONA by Nye Veier in 2018, involves the design and construction of a 23 kilometer four-lane highway. A total of 8 km will be divided into three underground tunnels, with a length of between 1 and 4 kilometers.
The project also includes three bridges and many double crossings. This new infrastructure will expand the road from two to four lanes and will improve mobility in the northern part of Trøndelag.
The construction work is expected to be completed in 2025.
